Endeavors range from setting up a $1M center at IIT Kharagpur to start-up funds for new ventures to funding scholarships to new chapters and many more
PanIIT Alumni individually have been successful and gave back to individual IITs or communities but never tried to use organizational clout or networking to collectively apply technology solutions to social problems. WHEELS – which stands for Water, Health, Energy, Education, Lifestyles and Security – intends to seek such solutions for the common problems of both USA and India in those six tracks.
To marshal the professional and financial resources of its global membership, WHEELS Global Foundation has been incorporated as an independent 501C(3), organization in 2013.
WHEELS differentiates itself from other charities in that it seeks to utilize technology and new innovations to find solutions to common problems within the six tracks on WHEELS – allowing for more efficient use of donor contributions. WHEELS is looking to grow through collaboration with existing and effective charities, NGOs, professional organizations, and public –private enterprises that are aligned with their objectives. This plenary session will describe the governance of WHEELS, the success of collaborative strategy to date, the preliminary plans in various tracks of WHEELS and its future goals.
