Title: Fracking’s Frenzied Future

This session is sponsored by PfP Technology.

Ability to use hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” for exploiting unconventional hydrocarbon resources economically has unleashed a vast resource.  This has already begun to have a far reaching impact in every sphere of world order and economics. The global energy math and political balances are well on their way to be altered significantly.  Cheap shale gas has made Europe and Asia essentially non-competitive with North America in fuels, chemicals, and to a lesser extent iron and steel.  One the minus side, the environmental risk associated with production has daunted many.  Some states and entire countries have placed moratoria on the technique. The panel will discuss various aspects of fracking as a technological and microeconomic force that has already changed the macroeconomic global outlook.
