Title: Pumps & Pipes: Discovering the Other Guy’s Toolbox

As technical professionals, creativity and innovation are in our DNA.  We are naturally curious and inclined to compare notes with one another, as at this meeting.  Curiosity, however, is not the only driver for seeking cross-disciplinary connections.  Nor is occasional serendipity the only reward.  In Houston, Texas, home to energy, medicine, and manned space flight, the “other guy’s toolbox” is a shared strategic asset.  This panel brings together leaders of Houston’s Pumps & Pipes initiative to share insights and experience in promoting innovation through cross disciplinary collaboration.

Speakers:

  • ·         Kirk Shireman: Deputy Director, Johnson Space Center
  • ·         Rustom Mody: Vice President, Technology, Baker Hughes
  • ·         Stephen Igo: Director, Entrepreneurial Institute, Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center
  • ·         William Kline: Manager, Drilling and Subsurface Function, ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company
